Butler Elementary families enjoyed an evening of Literacy related activities including guest readers, games, hot cocoa, and a visit from Mrs. Claus during Family Reading Night. All children were able to select a variety of “gently used” books to take home with them. Five lucky students won door prizes including two Kindle Fire Tablets! Submitted by Tammy Smith
Maude Saunders Elementary School students discovered the power of music through visual arts, classical performance, and classroom presentation on Friday, November 17 when the Lux Quartet: Violin (Robin Tozzie & Maggie Ernst), Viola (Amanda Hamilton), Cello (Todd Humphrey) performed while the students painted to the music.
Presented by the Rosemary Beach Foundation, Music in Pictures is an educational art initiative and juried art contest created in collaboration with professional musicians and university faculty. Music in Pictures encourages lifelong appreciation of symphonic music, enhances learning and provides educational enrichment.

WMS applauds its sixth grade Tropicana winners for their outstanding speeches. Pictured here are the school competition winners with their English Language Arts teachers. (L to R: Ms. Alex Rhodes, Mrs. Emily Kent, 3rd place Aaron Wilmoth, 1st place Mason Nowling, 2nd place Kadin McNaughton, Mrs. Rachel Jones). The WMS school competition was held November 15th in the WMS cafeteria, with a total of twenty-two sixth grade participants. Mason Nowling (1st place) and Kadin McNaughton (2nd place) will now represent WMS at the district level competition. The PHS Key Club has been honored as the Key Club of the Month for the State of Florida by the Florida District of Key Club International. The club has volunteered at their school's orientation, hosted a Hurricane Harvey relief drive, painted a mural, and volunteered at a Halloween event. Thank you for your service! Butler Elementary School held its Tropicana Speech Contest on Friday, December 1. The winners for fourth grade were Lauren McMurphy (1st place), Alexander Koehler (2nd place), and Jacob Colletta (3rd place). The ACE Club (Acknowledging Children’s Efforts) members are second graders dedicated to helping others.
