Congratulations to Mr. James Ross for his appointment to the position of Principal at Van R. Butler Elementary School, and to Ms. Crystal Appel for her appointment to the position of Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction for Walton County School District! The Walton County School Board voted to accept Superintendent Hughes recommendations for both positions at the May 7 School Board Meeting!
Mr. Ross has been at SWHS since 2011, serving 2 years as teacher on special assignment, then as Assistant Principal. He was recently selected as the 2019 Assistant Principal of the Year for WCSD. Mr. Ross will follow retiring principal Tammy Smith as the head administrator at Van R. Butler Elementary.
Ms. Crystal Appel served as a teacher in Walton County School District from 2005 to 2015, and Digital Learning Specialist in 2016. She joined the Curriculum and Instruction Department at the district office in 2016 as a Coordinator of Instructional Support. Ms. Appel will follow retiring Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, Kay Dailey.
Walton County School District is priviledged to have both of these dedicated and highly skilled leaders, and look forward to the positive impact they will make in their new positions!
