Title I Part A

Title I

What is Title I?

Title I is the largest federal assistance program for our nation's schools, which provides supplemental services to schools who qualify based on socio-economic status of the students. The goal of Title I is a higher quality of education for every child. The program serves millions of children in elementary and secondary schools each year.

How does it work?

The federal government provides funding to states each year for Title I. The Florida Department of Education sends funds to the school district, who identifies eligible schools and provides Title I funding to those schools. All Title I schools in Walton County School District implement school-wide programs, meaning every child enrolled at those schools are served. These services target improving the education of children in high-poverty schools by continuing to support and encourage parental involvement, improving instructional quality and methods, and providing additional research-based materials.

Title I Goals

  • Close the achievement gap of low achieving students in high poverty schools
  • Make informed decisions based on student achievement
  • Align services with academic standards to measure progress
  • Improve teacher quality
  • Improve parent engagement
  • Provide research-based programs
  • Coordinate services

School, District, and State Report Cards

The Florida Department of Education is pleased to announce it's release of the  School, District, and State Report Cards on the Know Your Schools website (http://edudata.fldoe.org).

These report cards serve as valuable resources for parents, educators and stakeholders by offering greater transparency into how Florida's districts and schools are doing regarding student achievement and success. It not only provides the  performance data, but also contains a State Report Card, educator qualifications and equity, per-pupil expenditures, and national data.

The department will continue to update information in the report cards as new data becomes available, as well as develop new enhancements based on user feedback received through the portal. News and updates about ongoing enhancements will be provided to those who subscribe through the portal.

If you need assistance accessing or navigating Know Your Schools, please contact your school's Title I Contact.

Parent Involvement

Parents are an important part of education.  They are their child's first teacher.  Title I assists parents in becoming more involved in their child's education as well as better prepared to support their child's education at home.  There are many ways  for parents to become more engaged.  Title I supports parents through trainings, workshops, and informational meetings.  Title I also wants parents to know what is going on at school in order provide input.  The following are items that parents have the right to know about, comment on, and participate in.
