Practical nursing students (Adam Resendiz, Jessica Clark, and Alisa Prescott) are learning how to check for placement of nasogastric tubes and PEG tubes prior to instilling fluids or medications into the simulated patient. This ensures that the feeding tube is correctly placed in the stomach. Students can visualize correct placement of the tube, listen for the gurgling sound by instilling air into the tube with their syringe and stethoscope, or by pulling back on the syringe to check for stomach content. ECTC is proud to have state of the art equipment for our nursing students to learn on so that they can provide safe and competent care in the real life setting! If you would like to be part of the Practical Nursing Program please contact us at (850)892-1241. ECTC has two LPN programs beginning in May.
